This vehicle is now sold. I cant believe how much interest there was in it. A deposit was taken within 24 hours of the ad going on the forum. Thanks to all those who have given me assistance, particularly Matt n Torz for introducing me to the club and also Beaker (Aidan) for his VW parts advice. So ...

As i suspected the diff locks are not functioning. To quote the Wiki.... "Commonly won't work if unused/not maintained for a year or so - usually not a serious problem to fix" I've not used it for hardcore offroading, hence never needed the diff locks. We purely wanted the vehicle as a pra...

CJ, i think you'll find it says something like "assume they dont work"

I personally think thats a fair thing to say. BUT i will go out now and see what the score is!

Oh and by the way, the Eberspacher is fully tested, fully working, fully operational and ready to pump out hot air!

Regarding the Expansion tank.... I've just had one delivered from JK. Would you believe its the wrong one? Well it is! Looks like i'll have to get a pukka VW one. To be honest i've got no idea what else i'd buy, probably another camper but with a toilet and shower next time. I'd almost certainly wan...

The only problem i had was a slight weep from the expansion tank when the engine got seriously hot on a 20 minute slog up a mountain in 1st and 2nd gear. Only half a pint of water was lost but it was a slightly worried moment! The van is well prepared, i've done a serious amount of work to get this ...

Link to LPG Stations in Norway

I have just got back from a month in the Arctic Circle in the LPG'd Syncro Westy. A chap over there gave me this link for LPG. It proved SOOOO useful as LPG isn't readily available over there. Saved us hundreds and hundreds of pounds on the trip. Might be of use to travellers on here. http://www.gje...

There was a post on here about pugs a few months ago, someone had put a 2.1 in a t25. Why bother though? The vw diesel fits better and is a better engine, well as a 1.9. I would'nt be able to sleep at night if i put a pug engine in mine. As you may of gathered i hate anything made in france. the vw...

Nope, having seen it, its definately a 14!

The biggest problem i've found with the Syncro is trying to understand which parts i need when making orders.

If you are worried about money then you shouldnt be trying to run a syncro and especially a 16" on a very tight budget.. This is a Syncro 14" with 16" wheels. They can soak up quite a large lump of cash to get properly right but once done it should be b1oody tough. By the end of this...
