Re: Ran out of fuel and now missing and Backfiring :(

Well, all the Ferric Oxide (brown type) cassette and R2R tapes must be just a myth

Re: Possible drain on battery

But with a decent battery, 30mA should only be a problem after about 20 years of no use 8) Sorry for the silly comment, but seriously, 30mA shouldn't cause any issues with flattening the battery for a good many weeks. Of course, CovKid is correct (as he always is) and a small Solar panel will keep a...

Re: Coolant Header Tank Help

Thank you for the lesson ghost123uk, i am eager to learn 8) I should note that my engine is a Diesel and the the Header Tank is on the right side of my engine bay! All these years of T25 and I didn't know the Header tank on a Diesel was on the right hand side (near the battery, yes?). Just checked ...

Re: Coolant Header Tank Help

I checked the fluid level in the Header Tank and it seems fine but fluid looks almost clear? My coolant is pink, so i'm assuming nothing is being sucked through? And maybe it's just water in there?? Firstly, lets just be clear about tanks. Header Tank is the one to the left with the Dalek cap on. I...

Re: Ran out of fuel and now missing and Backfiring :(

OK folks, can I throw this into the conversation. I have often thought that so many folks get this wrong, but maybe I'm missing something -> The open end of the feed pipe in the tank sits very close to the lowest part of the tank doesn't it (obviously). Now, consider the van has say 4 gallons of fue...

Re: Fuel tank breathers question

Mine had simple rubber pipes to the breather tanks (fitted by me) for most of the time I owned it (~13 years) with no ill effects to report.

Re: Ran out of fuel and now missing and Backfiring :(

As expected, I think I have crud from the tank in the carb, took off the fuel pipes leading to the carb and cranked the engine a few times and there are rusty deposits in the fuel In view of the fact you have recently fitted a new fuel filter, this shouldn't be happening, unless that new filter is ...

Re: twin 40 carbs on a dj engine.

Just popped in to say that a properly sorted Peirburg is a very good carb. I have "sorted" them on my (ex) T25 DG and on 2 x Sciroccos. I've never done this route myself, but many on here have been VERY happy with the full re-con service offered by Bromyard VW and it's cheaper (and will gi...

Re: replacement internal striplights

I've not seen a "plug in" replacement, and if there was, you would still need to remove the high voltage converter unit from the inside (which would involve an easy bit of wiring). However, you can buy strips of 12Volt LEDs very cheaply from ebay. You just cut them to the length you need. ...

Re: Underseal help

I have a related question :- Is this DIY undersealing a good idea? It occurs to me (and I've often thought about this) that underseal applied like this won't get to the trickier areas where the most difficult to fix rust occurs (inside "A" "B" pillars, inside sills, inside the ch...

Re: COOLlANT LIGHT

I cannot see that it might be a failed gasket or cracked head as the van start every time and does not run hot or use water. but will keep a eye on it. Just to say that a WBX engine will start fine, run fine and not get hot with either a blown sealing ring or cracked head. However, it would use wat...
