Membership No.2090 Tony & JaX Haynes (Canaldrifter)Bought in April 2005. Extensive refit and respray about 3 years ago. Had multitude of owners and ended up in Geordieland. Now brought dahn sarf [Surrey/Hants border]. Second back up vehicle for our narrowboat home on the Basingstoke Canal. Gone round clock half way again. Engine original we think. Sump pressurises, but vent mod using an old washing machine waste hose has given it new life. Toured Cornwall, North Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire this year. Only needed crawler gear once, on a hill on Bodmin Moor. Dog will only travel curled up around the passenger's feet. Gearchange decidedly dodgy. Need long arms, which I have. Still had flat mirrors, which I have now changed for convex courtesy of JustKampers. Only seems to like parking overnight in pub car parks, for some reason.

Member No: 2180 Robert Carberry based in Coventry, West Midlands.  1982 2.0L aircooled T25 which I bought off EBay last year in Wales.  I have been working on the van slowly doing bits and pieces (hard with a newborn baby in tow!!).  I fitted Recaro front seats from a Ford and have just bought a set of alloys (see pictures).  Plans for the future include a complete respray, interior revamp, lowering springs and some general TLC!  Not yet ventured out on any trips in her due to my missus insisting on fitting safety belts in the back and a suitable make up mirror! <groan>  Anybody in the local area please feel free to contact me.
Member No: 2133Andy Binks & Nadine Attwood I bought the bus a 1990 Devon Microbus with standard 19 DG from Ebay 30 may 05 and touch wood no problems except for a hi fuel usage which Steve sorted out before the long journey to Hannover CHEERS, its only 2 had owners with 96k and twin sliding doors. Ive stripped out the old Disabled harness as prevoius owner had installed for their child and the Back seat now replaced with an air bed (Fun) im planning a full camping kit (styled by nadine!) for my annual trips to Germany and some clear indicators for now.
Member No.2146 Donna Colins, based in W.Mids This is my VW called Starbug.  I have had her for 3 years.  I, along with my  husband Jason and our 3 girls, Lara, Cerys and Drew go camping in her  regularly.  She is also my transport to work every day.  Didn't need to do much work on her when I bought her apart from new seat covers, new curtains   and a good cleaning inside.  I love her to bits.  My only regret is not  buying one earlier!

Member No.2213 Maria & Steve We bought "Valerie" in August 2005, she's a 1.9 1987 T25 painted in New Beetle Lemon Yellow which fits in great with our VW fleet of a 2litre 2000 NB in Lemon Yellow and a 2litre 1999 NB in Cyber Green. We have lots of plans to tidy her up, and after camping at Vanfest 2005 we hope to be at lots of shows next year!

Member No. 2220Ben Riley I bought the van in 2003 and had to put a new engine in. (Can I advise anyone who has a tendency to let their heart rule their head, insist on an RAC check prior to making a purchase?) 20,000 miles later she is still going strong. We have done several tours of England and France (including the Marciac Jazz Festival last year). Although the engine is in a good state, the bodywork needs looking at. Now that I have moved to a house with a driveway (as opposed to a flat with a car park!), I am able to start working on her. I will be re-spraying her in the Spring (having made a pretty good job of a Type 4 Variant some years ago). Also, since coming across the T3 Tuning Stall at Vanfest this year ( www.t3tuning.co.u k), I may have to start adding some custom parts as well. It's an ideal van for touring and the Leisuredrive conversion is superb.
Member No. 2221 Simon Carrigan Just got my van (and called her Heidi!) in June from a fella in Wales, visited most of England now, a tour round the coast of the Uk is the plan for next year, if I can find an understanding employer that is! I found out about your club by surfing through related website

Member No2228 David & Lucy Golding .This is our Van ' BIG RIG ' . We got our van 2 years ago. Since then we've almost rebuilt it. Its a LHD Westfalia California and in excellent condition with an awesome spec. Since we got it we've fitted a new VAG TD engine and VAG Gear box and spent more than we want to think about on the rest. Being Climbers and Kite Surfers we have spent lots of time using ' BigRig' and have traveled in it to the Greek islands, Spain and the Alps as well as all over the UK. We use the van loads in the UK and the LHD makes no difference. I cant imagine life without it !

Membership No.2236 Toby Bitten I've been driving VW's for 10years now mainly in the form of mk2 golf gti's. I've always had a soft spot for VW vans and after attending more and more water/aircooled shows I decided it was time to fulfill my dream. : I bought my T25 at the the start of June 2005. It's my first aircooled VW after driving the watercooled variety for 10years. I found the van on ebay and after extensive email contact with the seller decided to take a risk and place a bid. I won the bidding and for £800 found myself the proud new owner of the eight seater brown minibus! It passed its MOT the day I picked it up, it's got a genuine 75,000 miles on the clock with all the old MOT's to back it up. Since purchasing I've tidied it up a bit and installed a DIY camping interior. Me and the missus spent two weeks touring Cornwall in August without any problems. The family have nicknamed the van "Biscuit bus" although I prefer "Bourbon"

Member No.2244 Mark Pryce " i spoke to one of your members as i recoverd his t25 scooby last week it got a little wet. by the name of Steve Shaw"

Member No.2248 Maz & Andy Nelson We had your website left on a lovely note on our windscreen from another T25 owner, (Vinny's owner!), so thought we would look you up. We have only had "Scooby" for 4 weeks but have already managed 2 weekends away in him. It's soooooo much fun & we can't wait for the summer. Scooby is our first T25 and was purchased from Ebay of all places. Andy had to fly to Glasgow to collect him and drove him back from there. We are enjoying the reaction from people as we drive about and as you can imagine kids love him - none more so than our Son who wants to sleep in him every night! Look forward to being part of "Club 80-90"

Member No.2251Ash and Matt Kane (Mash) Hello we are 23 and 25yr olds who are Engineers for a railway company by day and bikers and campers by night and the weekend. Camping is our thing we like the freedom and the ability to change where we are if we don't like somewhere and as I was in a bike! accident 3yrs ago my back and shoulder arn't friends with my thermarest anymore so an actual proper bed will be a luxury! So as we have a bike trailer we can take one of the bikes with us and run around on that when we're away. We own enough camping gear for atleast 10 people to go away - we were involved in Scouts before coming down here 1.5yrs ago you see so I'm looking forward to having a proper cooker and being ablt to keep milk in the fridge and maybe 1 or 2 beers . So hunt hunt hunt we did and got out bid or people were just being unrealistic with the researve price of their vans and we lost hope until Monday night ohhhh a blue clyb joker on german ebay - I fell in love and told hubby I was buying it - so we did and have

Membership No.2255Laura Morales We got her in May 2005 is our first camper. We'd like get in touch with people who own the same camper to exchange tips etc
Member no 2257Mart and Sue Woollatt , based in Martin, Lincolnshire. Boris is our 1981 2.0 litre aircooled beast. We haven't had him long. We needed something bigger to transport our surfboards and Boris is just the ticket. He's got the basics inside, cooker, sink and bed and is in pretty good condition but we're slowly 'doing him up' ready for our forays to Cornwall. Can't wait for our first apres-surf cuppa at the beach!

Member No.2258 Joy & Colin Sinclair We have know Daz &Justine (dazzer1)& the gang for 8+yrs. They were the ones who got us 'into the scene'. We have always loved their van and enjoyed busing about with all the kids. We never thought we would get one of our own, just admire all VW buses from afar. Finally after much deliberation we decided to 'go for it', and are now the proud owners of our T25. We fight over who is driving and the kids want to be taken to school in it,even though we usually walk everywhere! We went to the VW show at Tatton park and everyone we met was so friendly and helpful, giving us advice and tips, and we can't wait to go to more shows next year in our groovy bus ( hopefully in convoy!)

Member No2269 John Pearson-Gee I found your site whilst doing my research before buying a van. After searching every page I could find on the internet about T25 campers, I decided on buying a Westy conversion. It had to be a hi-top and preferably a Club Joker or later Atlantic. After I had scoured the net continually for days looking for a suitable vehicle and then giving up, my girlfriend found our eventual van within minutes of being on the computer. The fact that the van was in Germany did not deter us in the slightest and after a couple of phone calls to the seller for assurances and the chassis number for the insurance, we booked our flight and return ferry crossing. To cut a long story short, the seller was a fantastic bloke who picked us up from the airport, arranged B&B, acted as interpreter and helped us register the van for export; top bloke! The whole trip took four days and the van didn't miss a beat on the way home. We went to Vanfest this year and plan on getting to as many rallies/festivals/shows as we can next year.
Membership No.2274 Jonathan Woodward We only bought the van in August 2005, and it is our first VW, first camper and first aircooled vehicle. So far so good anyway. Hoping to spruce it up a bit and get way in it next summer.

Member No.2280 Andy and Lesley Holland A guy told us about you in Asda car park! We got the van 2 and a half years ago when it was beige and pink. Have had full respray and interior overhaul - now it is our (almost) first home. We are away most weekends all year round. I enjoy doing my own maintenance and I'm a fanatical rust chaser.

Member number 2282Pete Farrell , 1985 Westfalia Joker L/H drive lowered with 7 inch alloys fitted, genuine bodykit and spoilers. Engine is 2.1 DJ injection with 5 speed box this was fitted a couple of weeks prior to us buying the Westy. The VW is our first camper and is used as a daily vehicle as well. There is a story as to how we bought it, we were in Gran Canaria on holiday and Glo spotted an internet cafe in we went (our PC at home had crashed a few weeks before this) and checked our Emails also looking on Ebay. After a test drive and inspection on a lift we decided this is the one for us. Florian was brilliant, kept in close contact did everything we wanted doing and delivered the VW to our house the next thursday. Reccomend him nice guy. We have been away twice to the Lakes and really enjoyed it, we intend to get plenty of weekends away next year as I am heavily involved in Racing Motorcycles. Plans for the Globus- new carpets, LPG conversion and some fancy laminate panelling, we'll see.

Member No.2286 Antony Bailey I've owned this camper for nearly 3 years now and I have done many miles in it. It's been lowered 60mm and has many extra's including pas, air con, heater, mp3 stereo system, alloys, sports steering wheel, and a 5 colour metallic flip paint job. I'm planning a engine conversion later next year and maybe some body mods.

Membership No.2288 Rod Brench Got hold of you through a van I looked at to buy, owner was looking to join himself with one of his other vans and gave me the web site. Bought the van because I was need one for work (plumber) I am new to self employment so budget was limited and nothing in my price range apart from an escort van. Always fancied one of these, saw one and bought it. Previous owner even left the row of seats in the back! It looks honest, albeit battered and in need of bodywork TLC. Mechanics all seem solid and drives well. Will run it for a year and decide what to do then. Would prefer one in better shape but this will give me a baptism in ownership.
Membership No.2289 Nigel Collier I am involved with the Split screen van club and have seen you at shows. I bought the Syncro this summer intending to convert it to a camper, since then my friend decided to sell his Holdsworth Villa so I bought it. I like it very much and find it very comfortably and easy to drive so I guess the Syncro will be going as soon as I sought out the brake pipes and get an MOT. I also have a 1967 Split Screen camper. 3 vans 1 driver! It's a VW thing.
Member2290 David Lear I live in Poland but I am English. I recently bought the bus. It only has 110,000km on the clock. I am slowly doing her up to adapt to our needs. e plan on using it for picnics as well as my daily ride to work. We plan on driving over to the UK in the summer. If any members are in Poland feel free to mail me. (I have a big garden 10 min walk from the beach, plenty of room for a bus).
Member No.2292 Rob Moon, (robst25)bought my van in May 05 and never looked back since, its alot different now to what it was when i bought it spent around £4k and just needs a respray now which is next on my never ending "to do list"  Mr Blue is a 1.9 watercooled petrol/lpg he has only let me down once with a dodgy starter but sorted that.i have lowered him by 50mm on 18" RS4's tinted all windows and full ice system and alarm immobiliser lots of blue lights in and out hope you like it!! We go to as many shows as possible and love to get away the more times the better the kids love it and as you can see from the pic its a pop top (solid sides) not perfect but it works. So look out for us at shows pop over say hello take care

Member No. 2295 Paul Thompson, based in Staffs. The van was owned by a friend of a friends mum, who gave it to her son, who sold it to his mate, and i bought it of him!!!  I bought the van because my 66 beetle is in my garage slowly being restored.  I wanted to have a van to go the shows in, well it beats having to put up a tent.  In 2005 i went to most of the shows.  I have now decided that i love the van and want to do some bits and pieces to her; lowered, i've got some merc AMG wheels and a few other things depending on cost.
Member No. 2296 Peter Dray, based in Berkshire.Found the site via a link from Just Kampers, Owned the van since Oct2005 and have clocked up 2000 miles without incident.
Member No. 2299 Klaus Kadur, based in Eseex. I'm a native German-Swiss. Became language teacher but that didn't work out . Last summer picked up the dream I had in the early 80ties .(  then I had discovered , ie hired a Westfalia Joker for 2 weeks in the winter with my girlfriend) : now I bought an 84 Westfalia Joker.  After a fair amount of work it was  a lovely baby, sparkling,  even though the 5 th gear started slipping, I bought another gearbox,(£570) where,  the 3rd gear slipped, and finally got another for 700 euros in Germany which seemed to work ok until , on the way back from the Med, on that free French motorway from Bezier to Clermont Ferrand---------- it started to play up on the steep hills. We had 2 bikes at the back and were fully loaded, children etc.
Member No.2300 Nick & Szara Crook We got the van in May, and on the road the 1st of June this year. Its a Leisuredrive pop top 4 berth, very nicely trimmed, and very comfortable! We have been bikers till now, and cant see why we waited so long to get into the VW scene!! Everywhere we go people seem to want a bit of your time to talk vans. It's brilliant. We managed to do 6000 miles around and about, Europe next?? Who knows?

Member No.2306 Mr andMrs Raywood We bought the van in1990 and have fun holidays with our alsation dog in tow.It gives us the freedom we need with the dog to stop off where and when we want and no hotel or kennel fees!

Member No. 2309 Dan & Liz Wood We bought 'Bertha' in November 2004, our first ever camper. She needed a tidy up in the engine bay, with heater hoses and stuff all in the wrong place (a hastily swapped enigne by the look of it!) but she seemed to run well. Then as cold nights set in we noticed the dreaded DG-engine leaky head gasket problem, litre after litre of coolant went in - but it never stayed there. We thought that was the end. :( Luckily, our story has a knight in shining armour in the shape of Mr. Brickyard who managed to do all sorts of wonderous things to gaskets, push rod tubes, and other things I'll never fully understand! Since then, we've been away in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and North Wales and had lots of fun. Bertha is a bit 'sheddy' inside, but that's all part of her charm.

Member No 2313Mark Allsop, 1982 2ltr Devon bought Autumn 2005. Took it up to Scotland for our first trip and have to say, we loved it! Looking forward to many more trips and meets.
Member No. 2322 Keith Flynn, based in London. Not much to say about the van yeat as its my first one and Ive only had it 1 week. Always loved the VW's I think I got the bug from the engine noise of my dads bugs when I was a kid, hence the reason I went for aircooled. Enclosed is a piccy of the van just bought, can u update it when i do a bit to it
Member No. 2323. Isaac Fishwick based in Cumbria 1986 vw t25 single cab pickup 1.6 non turbo diesel Been in family since new, as my dads building truck.  Has retired now but im hoping to do it up and maybe put a newer tdi engine in it, keeping it original as a diesel.  It is rusty all over but is still rock solid, I am just anxious to get the rust treated though before it becomes less solid.Planning on using it for a surf bus.  Tried to get on pimp my ride uk with it- was worth a try!

Members No 2325 Paul Stevens and Tara Ward Derek the Joker was imported from www.Inwestigator.co.uk last summer and is a fab new edition to our family. We took him out for a holiday to the New forest at the end of the summer and can't wait for the spring when we plan to conquer Europe. It's our first venture in to the wonderful world of VW and I love the fact that now even just going for a drive to the shops is an adventure. The best thing so far… Parked up on Brighton sea front in the rain with the family and a Chinese takeaway watching the waves roll in. Worst thing so far… why won't my gas fridge light anymore?? Hey ho…I still love him.

Members No 2326 Andy Scaife 1983 T25 Laisuredrive Crusader Hightop. modified 1.9 waterboxer, but not sure yet what state of tune it's in, other than sounding great and having to lift off at 95 for fear of over-revving! that front spoiler is essential I think! Next mod will be a shortshifter, then reupholstery, curtains and paint. Its currently white, but not for long! Owned since October 2005. 4000 miles so far. we are a family of 5, so naturally we have an awning. First night of ownership was spent 5-up in th! e van, in freezing conditions, but hey, its a Wasserboxer, so we didnt freeze!

Member No.2341Neil Greatbatch "Just trawling the net and found your ace site!!" Where do you start with a "CHEAP CAMPERVAN"! (i must have been blind to buy him)! £700 from e-bay tells the story i think!! Humphrey started life as a Viking conversion, but after years of abuse from the previous 15 owners, needed a bit of work! The pop top was cut down to 3/4 size because of major cracks/mould etc, and new tenting made (still comes out the side) Inside looked like the local homeless doss house so had to be redone completely(Only the curtains/sink/cooker were any good) Bodywork had the normal abuse, needing door repairs/front steps and sill on o/s. Then after running out of money, some brushpaint for effect! I've had him a year now, and love the idea of Wales every other weekend.... think it will go auto pilot soon...

Member No. 2342 Tony Baily discovered in a farmyard, not in use for 3 years. put on a transporter in order to get it home. not been able to get it running yet but very hopefull and lots of ideas. intend to convert it for weekends away. officially christened herman.hope to be able to use your site for helpfu

Member No.2343Chris MacKinnon I saw the van at a local garage within a month of first looking to buy in the Summer of 2005. It was cramping their style because they specialised in sales of old luxury cars (RR, Jags etc.), so I got a good price (I think!).  It has cost a little to bring it up to speed - but then don't they all? I don't have any other car so I rely on the camper but I don't use it to get to work, so it isn't under too much pressure to perform. My girlfriend and I called him "Snowy" because my nickname at school (I am a teacher) was "Tin Tin". .  We hope to come to some of the shows and meets this year and look forward to bumping in to the 80-90 club members.

Member No 2349 Steve Bailey I bought the purpleturtlelovevan in June 2005 after I took voluntary redundancy from an engineering consultancy, and set up my own property maintenance/handyman business in Bristol. I had about £1000 to spend, and knew I DIDN'T want a Ford Transit. I almost bought a Merc 208D van, in black (I would have painted it like the A Team van....), but on the morning of the viewing, I saw my van for sale on Volkszone, in Hertfordshire. I went to see it, it had a wedge of history, a few dents and dings here and there, but it went well, so I bought it for £995. It is still going well, and I will fit it out with proper racking soon, so I don't keep losing stuff in the back of it.

Member No. 2355Kirsten Briggs My van i have had for two years now, i have always wanted a camper of sorts and finally sold my polo and found this one, the owner was very reluctant to sell it and was stoked to sell it to a fellow VW fan. It has been my pride and joy ever since, i have been working on it slowly for the last two years trying to keep it rust free and generate enough money to have the window seals replaced and have it re-sprayed to it's former glory. It is slightly odd in that the gear box is upside down and has some funny trim features like crome bumpers and wheel trimmings. I use as my main car and keep all my windsurfing and surfing kit in it. I take as regular as i can afford trips to the west country for some road trip relief and she has always looked after me and we have had some great trips. I would love to take her to europe some day and go check out the breaks in france! and portugal in the comfort of my own VDub. Loving the site!!!!

Members No.2361Sarah Mason "Tinsel" is my 1982 air-cooled T25.  I bought her a couple of weekends ago and I plan to go camping around Europe in the summer, so need to get her running as sweet as can be before I go.  She's got a pretty recent reconditioned engine, and a rather sticky automatic choke which causes the engine to cut out quite a lot.  Hopefully this will be fixed soon, and then it's on to the rust. What a labour of love these vans are, but she'll be worth every penny I'm sure.

Member No. 2365 Harry Hole, After an absence of nearly 15 years we recently bought another Camper. This time a 1982 T25 with a fitted shelldon hightop, 2lt CU air cooled. She has a small amount of surface rust, but not on every panel! This will be attended to throughout the winter ready for a full respray in March/April 2006. A fully fitted interior that just needs a few finnishing touches and we will have a fully up together T25.

Member No.2369 Paul & Gaynor Wood Based in Lee on the Solent. We found the site after Googling Volkswagen T25.We've owned Clarice (so named by our son Griff) our T25 Autosleeper conversion  for two years now.Year one we stayed reasonably local, last year it was overseas to the Isle of Wight and abroad to Wales. This year we are planning our first trip abroad with her, heading to Normandy for the summer hols so any hints and tips from other members would be appreciated, especially the "don't do this.......". .

Member No.2414 Shaun Hickman based in Camblesforth , N.Yorks. Purchased the van in August 2005 - 2.0ltr Aircooled - after quite a lengthy search to find something which wasn't falling to pieces.Had a few problems with her to begin with as she hadn't been used for a while - brakes, sticking valves & carbs - all problems have now been sorted and she's just passed her MOT - only required a brake pipe replacing - so I'll have to change her name from crusty! A few more minor jobs to do on the inside and she'll be ready to go away in

Member No 2432 James Kennedy This is the 'hoodride'. It's shite brown, it's slow (1.6 diesel) and it's rusty but damn is it a fine wagon.  Just imported from the fatherland, needs a bit of TLC which it wont get for a couple fo years but hey!  She'll live See you at the shows.

Membership number 2466 Graham & Judith Thomas Freddie is a 1983 1.9 DG Wasserboxer, bought from Damstadt on Ebay in September 2004. He was used by our son David, who is based in Moenchegladbach, for a few months. We then imported hhim into the UK in June 2005. The first use was in July for a weekend in the New Forest, and a tour of France in September 2005. So far, apart from regular maintenance, we have replaced the canvas in the poptop and had to rewire the camper part. Apart from that we enjoy ( when my job permits) days and weekends out. Picture was taken in the Pyrennes Septermber 2005

Member No.2468 Keith and Julie Broadhurst, based in barrow in furness, cumbria. had this van for six years now been meaning to join club 80 90 for some time heard about the club through friends and have seen the ever growing club pitch at numerous vanfests, i am currently getting my bodywork re done as it has been 5 years since i got it painted and its getting a bit seamy as they do, its a vw blue, i put the empis on with 205 70s on the back and 195 70s on the front this gives it a nosey stance and does away with the need for levelling ramps on sites as i can park it either way round on slight slopes to level it up.  did have it lowered but the ride was too harsh for my liking, pity cos it looked great so i swapped my springs with my mates caravelle ones, his van is featured in latest camper and bus mag they called it yellow fever. i have done work to the interior having it all re upholstered in a blue cloth used at murrayfield stadium, put in a wood laminate floor and had new curtains made in a denim look, it has the four headlamp grille from jk also the lower wrapround grille and 5 piece spoiler, i want to replace my roof bellows with a fresher look but individual interiors dont do leisuredrive and neither do leisuredrive.  just had a gas conversion done by steve at gasure

Member No2471 Koulis Pericleous I had this van from new in 1987 as a company vehicle!!  I used it extensively for long journeys in Europe when the kids were little, so it's been to Greece, France, Spain, Portugal, etc. Still going strong, and still being used regularly.  I met a gathering of club80-90 campers on Box Hill and they said why don't you look us up on the web, so I did!

Member No.2479 Rob Harrington. Engine blew up - valve probs first time out after buying in 1993 with 9000 miles on clock.Since repairing and fitting a rev limiting rotor, no major problems until recently.Largely self-maintained since with assistance from friend with garage.Travelled extensively in UK and occasionally Europe till wear on bell housing (clutch release shaft affected - wouldn't go into gear - snapped gearlever in Lake District)andignition system electronic faults (defeated self, friend and 3 other garages - fourth managed to fix) put it out of action for a year.Colour is white and getting a bit rusty these days, but will repair and have sprayed an ecofriendly colour when I can afford it. Discovered club 80-90 searching for somewhere to borrow VW228B - starter motor bush removal tool - unsuccessfully and then to check out alternative ways of doing this which I found on club 80-90 site. Will decide what to do while it is still raining
