| Member No1701 Dave Broad (dbroada) " This is Schnecke, my van and Heather, the other regular inhabitant. Schnecke is a 1983 1,9l waterboxer. We bought him March 2004, spent most of April & May re-fitting the insides when we could "borrow" him from the garage who were doing the welding in attempt to gain an MOT certificate. The MOT pass came in June, just under 2 days before the start of our holiday! Our first trip in him was to Poland and then on to the Czech republic and home through Germany for a DTM car race in Nuremburg (where the photo was taken). We recorded a grand total of zero miles on that trip as one thing (not the only thing) that didn't work was the mile counter. We were sure at this point he was a good buy! Up until September we managed to get away for at least one night a week on all but 2 weekends including a weekend run to Belgium for the Grand Prix. We are now having another refit including an update to the electrics and some more insulation. I am sure this process will get repeated many more times! This year we only have 3 foreign trips and 2 weekend meet-ups planned but it's early days yet. Schnecke is a working camper, not a show van. Dave" | ![]() |
