| Member no.521 Richard Newton based in Shropsire, 1980 1600 aircooled devon camper, owned it since may 2002, spent some time redoing the inside, no mechanical problems apart from a sticky caliper (explaining why even slower than normal) and just passed the MOT first time! Thoroughly enjoying it and wished I'd bought one sooner. Plans for the winter include fitting replacement front and sliding doors and recarpeting inside! | ![]() |

| Member No. 609 - Chris Wallace based in Berkshire, 1987 Westfalia 1.9 in April 2001 having been a fan/owner of VW's all my life. He had 2 previous owners who kept him garaged and serviced by VW. There was a time when I wouldn't have dreamed of owning a water cooled VW and I was intending to buy a late 70's Bay when I saw this T25 for sale in London. He was in such pristine condition and had only covered a few hundred miles in each of the 5 years or so prior to buying him, that I was quickly won over to the joys of a water-cooled Wagen...i.e. instant heat, pulling power (up hills!), space and comfort. One of my proudest moments was at Vanfest 2002 where I showed him in the Westfalia Display and saw people taking pictures of MY Wagen! We've been to Scotland, Wales and around the South Coast of England in him and he's everything I always wanted in a VW. | ![]() |
| Member No. 613 Kurt & Kirsty Ralph based in Norfolk air-cooled 2.0ltr built in 1981 (registered 1982). it was a DIY conversion using a Richard Holdsworth kit and was converted at new. If you look really closely, you will see we proudly display the Club 80-90 sticker behind the rear view mirror! We look forward to meeting like-minded T25 nuts and attending events, one of the best things about owning a VW camper is that you feel a part of something bigger than just camper van ownership. | ![]() |
| Member no. 619 - Paul Bewell based in Launac, France, 1983 1.9 Westphalia, just bought a T3 Westy at the beginning of Feb, after seeing the ad in a local paper. Like a lot orf Westy's down here, mine is a German import, complete with Geman rust and was bought for a very German (i.e. not typically local exhorbitent) price. I've been looking for a camper bus for about a year and was seriously considering buying one from Germany myself when this one popped up for less than 1500 euros (£900). We have two young lads and they love the idea of sleeping in the tent on the roof. We love the idea of being able to get away cheaply and easily at the weekends to the mountains, sea or ocean that are all within three hours from home. | ![]() |
| Member No. 621 Geoff & Doreen Lucas based in Hinckley, 2.1 our much loved syncro (Maximus). As you can see, it being an Autosleeper Trident built in 1989, and to date covered only 37,500 careful miles with full service history and all past MOT certs. The vehicle is waxoyled twice a year, and cleaned polished on a regular basis. It was entered in the Stanford Hall show in 2001and won its class. We are regular attendees at Vanfest. | ![]() |
| Member no. 628 Mark Berry based in London, 1983 1.9 Westphalia Joker, we talked about getting a camper for ages, but bought Bertie, our 1983 left had drive Westphalia Joker in spring 2001 on a whim: Anna saw it taking the boys to school! We have never regretted it. She has done 25000Km of holidays, weekends away, days out, commuting and shopping runs with us (and 150000Km before that!). Only problems- one over-heating incident (after renewing a leaky hose - now I've learnt how to purge it properly) and lots of oil leaked. This is the most reliable vehicle I've owned! | ![]() |
| Member no.633 - Phil Marston based in Sussex, 1981 1600 air cooled van, had it about 6 years now and am giving it a well needed re-build at the moment. Hope to have it done as soon as the weather gets better. | ![]() |
| Member No 635 - Mick Tann,(Mick) Rotherham, South Yorks. 16" Syncro 2.1 inj. DoKa, 1991. Headlamp washers, power steering, heated front seats and big heated LT type mirrors. Walk through and 4 doors with sliding windows in rear. LHD ex Swedish Railways - full VW service history but obvious commercial use. Aluminium panelled rear, Truckman style top and Thule roof bars (waiting refitting). I sold my almost fully refurbished '73 Westfalia Bay of 14 years to finance this truck 28/02/02, I thought it more suited to changed grown family needs. It's legalised now but much work still to be done, hoping to improve the cosmetics | ![]() |

| Member no. 653 James Waters based in Hastings, 1983 2.0 ltr Devon Camper, had van 5 years, today washed and waxed it. Been all round Yorkshire, Wales and Cornwall, plus trips to airshows and general camping trips. We've had new heat exchangers, a bottom half respray and some minor bits and pieces but apart from that it's been reliable and fairly cheap to run. Friends and family love going out in it cause of all that legroom, and the views. We bought it in Norfolk. It's done 92,000 miles. Inside it's wonderful: fridge, cooker, Eberspacher, beds upstairs, Portapotty. Seats need reupholstering. Planning to be very nice to my mother in law who is good with foam and a sewing machine. Plans are to go back to Cornwall for trips. Recently fitted 20 bags of rubble in it on a tip trip and it made it. Took two days to clean it mind. Glad to find your site, think it was linked from somewhere, but can't remember where. Good people like 'The Brick' instead of all those namby pampy curvy things that hippies drive to look trendy. Brown Brick far trendier. | ![]() |

| Member no.702 Stephen Bick based in Cardiff, 1982 1.6 hi-top diesel, only having mine for a little over a year now, I have been bitten by the Bug ( no pun) I did look at some T2's before buying but they seemed to be over priced or in ill repair. I was lucky when I heard that my cousin was selling his, and sold it to me at a good price. I have been all around south and West wales and also to Ireland last summer, called her "The ring of Ceri" | ![]() |
